This unique and remote lodge is situated deep into the South Luangwa National Park, the area best known for its excellent game viewing. Opening only during peak game viewing months (June – October), Lion camp offers style and comfort, personalized service and excellent cuisine.
Built on the banks of an oxbow lagoon, the lodge overlooks an open grassland which is frequented by animals day and night. A small stream infront of the lodge attracts birds and animals alike, some to drink, some to wallow! At the lodge itself, elephants are frequent visitors as they look for pods and leaves from the beautiful trees against the boardwalks. There is always something to watch while in “camp” and numerous exciting sightings have been reported.
Upmarket accommodation consists of spacious canvas and thatched chalets, built on raised wooden platforms. Beautifully decorated with vibrant colours, each has it’s own ensuite shower and toilet, and a private viewing deck overlooking the grass plain and stream.
Living up to it’s name, Lion Camp offers good opportunities to see the big cats, and the Cooksons Wildebeest who are endemic to this area.
